About BLOOMiN · Est. 2023

Coffee, and everything we've built around it.

A café, an academy, an export house, and a set of experiences. All of it started with one stubborn belief: that Rwandan coffee deserves better than to be an anonymous export.

Chapter one · the beginning

It started with a simple idea of quality.

I spent years in hospitality, at some of Rwanda's finest houses. Singita, Radisson Blu, the Kigali Convention Center, Retreat by Heaven, Park Inn by Radisson. That is where I learned what quality really means to people, and how much the small things matter.

In 2019, still working in those hotels, I started training with the Specialty Coffee Association. Seeing coffee done properly, and the craft behind a single cup, something clicked. I fell for it, and I fell hard.

By 2023 I couldn't ignore it any longer. So I brought the two together, the standards I learned in hospitality and everything coffee had taught me, and opened BLOOMiN. Honestly, it had been growing in me for years.

Rwanda's high-altitude coffee hills
Chapter two · the origin

Grown across the hills of Rwanda.

Our coffee grows high, between 1,700 and 2,000 metres, on hills across Rwanda's best-known regions. We source it carefully and roast it the week it ships, so it reaches you close to its best.

From the shores of Lake Kivu to the southern highlands, every region tastes a little different. Delicate florals in one, a soft natural sweetness in another, and a bright clarity that could only be Rwandan.

How we source

Straight from the hands that grow it.

We buy from farmers we actually know. We visit the farms, taste through the season, and pay fairly for what we take. These are long relationships, not one-off deals.

Direct relationships

We buy straight from the growers and co-ops, with no anonymous middle layer between the farm and the roast.

Field visits

We walk the hillsides and drying patios ourselves, tasting through the season before we commit to a lot.

Full traceability

Every bag traces back to its region, farm, and process. First-grade beans, and nothing less.

What we stand for

We pour good coffee. Then we teach it.

01

Origin integrity

100% Rwandan, single-origin, fully traceable. We taste every lot before we buy it.

02

Craft excellence

SCA-certified skill at every step, from the grinder to the roaster to the cupping table.

03

Guest-centred warmth

Hospitality first. It is the standard we learned across Rwanda's best hotels, brought behind the coffee bar.

04

Community growth

We hire and train young people, and keep the value close to home, from Karongi to Kigali.

Why it matters

Coffee is only half of it.

The other half is people. We create real jobs, teach real skills, and slowly change what the world expects when it hears the words 'Rwandan coffee.' We are not trying to be good for Rwanda. We are trying to be good, full stop.

Creating jobs

Real livelihoods across the café, the roastery, and the export side, all based here in Kigali.

Building skills

Globally recognised training that turns talent into careers for the next generation.

Changing the story

Helping Rwanda be known for more than where the beans come from. For the coffee itself.

Where we're going
